Investigation on the adsorption and desorption behaviors of heavy metals by tire wear particles with or without UV ageing processes

In recent years, tire wear particles (TWP), as the significant proportion of microplastics (MPs), has adsorbed much attention due to its widespread presence in aquatic ecosystem. Compared with typical MPs, TWP exists differences composition, additives, characteristics and so on. With polypropylene (PP) target Cd2+ Pb2+ pollutants, adsorption-desorption heavy metal ions on original aged MPs were studied. Compare PP, SBET increased more significantly after UV ageing process. Meanwhile, zeta potential from ?8.01 ?14.6 mV PP ?5.36 ?9.52 mV, surface negatively-charged. addition, hydrophilicity enhanced oxygen-containing functional groups physicochemical properties changed obviously during processes. The adsorption results showed that pseudo-second-order model could better describe processes MPs. orders capacity for > PP. phenomenon confirmed had vector effects than enhance Moreover, desorption demonstrated that, compared (with higher capacity) also simulated gastric fluid. might cause a serious hazard environment organisms.
